6 SEO Myths That You Should Never Follow

SEO Myths

SEO is an important factor in ranking our websites. A good SEO can boost your website to a great level and some SEO myths could even ruin your website. Many YouTubers and Bloggers tend to call themselves SEO experts. Some of them could spread some good points about SEO but most of them end spreading some SEO myths which are not proved by anyone.

So, you should strictly prohibit doing SEO by just hearing from others without actual proof. Now the question arises “How to identify which SEO tactics are working and which of them are SEO myths?” You don’t need to worry about that because today we are going to identify and share with you the 6 SEO myths which you should never believe and follow.

Top 6 Biggest SEO Myths In 2021

SEO Is Death

Many journalists often claim that many things are dead like YouTube is dead, Facebook is dead, SEO is dead, etc. But they later end up being just a myth. I don’t think that SEO is dead because if it was then the good results would have never been in the first position. And many of my client’s sites are also ranking and acquiring huge traffic with the help of SEO.

But I will strongly agree with the fact that SEO has become advanced and you should not expect to rank higher if you are not providing valuable content. Because Google has become very advanced and it updates its algorithm every year which enhances its quality of choosing good content and ranking it higher on Google.

Google Only Ranks Fresh Content.

Does Google rank fresh content? Absolutely, but it also ranks old content that hasn’t been updated in years. But I don’t recommend you to just publish content and just keep it as it is for years. If you want to update your post and republish it then it’s well and good.

Now, republishing also matters on the type of article. For example, if you are writing on “How to make a coffee” the recipe for making a coffee would be remaining the same for years and most probably it won’t ever change. In that case, there’s no problem whether you are updating the article or not and even Google understands it.

But for example, you are writing on “Top Google searches” which is changing over time, requiring updating frequently. Bottom line Google doesn’t only rank fresh content.

Duplicate Content Will Get You Penalized.

Duplicate content refers to the type of content which appears in more than one place on the web. But there’s no such type of thing in Google’s eye and it has been said on many occasions that Google doesn’t penalize duplicate content.

But that doesn’t mean that you should use duplicate content. Duplicate content has its own bad points like if you want to monetize your blog with Google AdSense then you shouldn’t use duplicate content because Google AdSense doesn’t appreciate those websites.

Moreover, just think if the article is already ranking on the first page then why Google would be ranking your exact match content above it again. Google doesn’t penalize duplicate content but it doesn’t even appreciate it.

Creating More Links Is Better Than Having More Content.

Backlinks are indeed a very important factor to look after in SEO. But that doesn’t mean that you should only focus on links and forget about creating valuable content.

Backlinks are very helpful yet very dangerous good backlinks could rank your site and a bad SEO could even ruin your site. So, your 1st priority should be on creating valuable content instead of creating unnecessary links. Moreover, Google’s John Muller has even said that “Links are not the most important SEO factor.

Well known Websites Will Always Outrank Unknown Sites.

People think that the website is ranking only because its authority is high and is well known. Yes, in some cases high authority websites could rank higher. But not in all situations and it’s definitely not true that you can never outrank that site.

Because many weak sites have even outranked sites like Wikipedia, Reddit, etc. Even I have worked on my client’s sites and help them ranked higher than the known websites. You should just focus on the quality of articles and everything would be possible.

SEO Is A “Set It And Forget It Job”.

Yes, SEO could definitely bring free and consistent traffic that doesn’t fade over time. But it’s not like you should just do SEO of your site once and it will work for a lifetime. SEO is like going to a gym you should work consistently to help your site grow higher and maintain.

And if you are here just to set SEO and enjoy your earnings lifetime, you should quit blogging. Because blogging and SEO need continuous working.

Conclusion

In this article, I have shared some of the common SEO myths that most people thought to be true. In this era only doing blogging won’t do anything you should also be aware of the questions like what is SEO and how you can use it for your benefit.

Lastly, I would like to say that don’t just do what others say in SEO you should do a lot of research on different platforms before making any changes to your website.
